Reborn "Live Blog"

  • For every 10 students who reach high school in New Orleans , fewer then 6 graduate.
  • I feel that until the education get right nothing in New Orleans will get right.
  • Prior to Katrina there was so many problems., New Orleans is one of the only cities in the nation that doesn't have a school system but a system of schools. This is not helping all the problems that are going on. More then half of the students attending schools in New Orleans attend Charter Schools.
McDonogh 35 is a public school, which they are criticising in this film, but last year McDonongh 35 had the largrest graduation rate, greater then any Charter school except for O.P.Walker.
  • In this film they talked about the KIPP Charter School, where in my opinion was racial dynamics. KIPP is bringing in many young white New England teachers, who want to change everything but want to do it there way. They didnt want any help from former New Orleans teachers.
  • KIPP / Charter Schools are trying to have total mind control over the students.
  • The Students dont get to have an opinion of there own.
  • The students are treated like animals, working for a treat etc.
