The Boys Of Baraka

I enjoyed watching the movie in class. I think that I was an good experience for the boys. The are from poor and bad neighborhoods. The kids were selected by someone at the school. They students went to the school to learn new things and and teaching them things that the school wasn't teaching. The boys parent most of them are having problems raising them.In the movie they handle the kids in a totally different type of way. These kids were there for more than two years. As you watch these kids year after year you see how much these kids have improve there behavior and change there ways.
I wish that they had more school like this to help kids. Some children need to be in school like that so they could get that extra push. Some of the kids today in to be in special school that are smaller. If they are in smaller school than the teachers could focus on them better. I think that the school are doing a good job with these kids.

Gender Violence

aaViolence against women and girls is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. It can include physical, sexual, psychological and economic abuse, and it cuts across boundaries of age, race, culture, wealth and geography. It takes place in the home, on the streets, in schools, the workplace, in farm fields, refugee camps, during conflicts and crises. It has many manifestations from the most universally prevalent forms of domestic and sexual violence, to harmful practices, abuse during pregnancy, so-called honour killings and other types of feminism
Globally, up to six out of every ten women experience physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime. A World Health Organization study of 24,000 women in 10 countries found that the prevalence of physical and/or sexual violence by a partner varied from 15 percent in urban Japan to 71 percent in rural Ethiopia, with most areas being in the 30–60 percent range.
Violence against women and girls has far-reaching consequences, harming families and communities. For women and girls 16–44 years old, violence is a major cause of death and disability. In 1994, a World Bank study on ten selected risk factors facing girls and women in this age group, found rape and domestic violence more dangerous than cancer, motor vehicle accidents, war and malaria. Studies also reveal increasing links between violence against women and HIV and AIDS. A survey among 1,366 South African women showed that women who were beaten by their partners were 48 percent more likely to be infected with HIV than those who were not.

Men downgrading Women

The reason why so many men treat so many women like objects is simple: It’s because A, the vulgar, disrespectful, ignorant approach that he takes with the woman he approaches obviously has been effective for him in the past. B, he feels for some reason that he has every right to approach the woman like a whore on the strip. C, he doesn’t even know how to approach a woman, so instead of being respectful and polite, he uses lines that he heard one of his homeboys or one of his favorite rappers say. Or finally D, he has a lack of confidence in himself, so he chooses to attempt to bring the female that he approaches confidence down along with his in order to get what he wants. Either way that he chooses, it’s all unacceptable
The bottom line is, you can’t even tell the difference from a lady, a hoe, a bitch, or a bop to the physical eye! So the average man is only used to meeting the females who ARE bops, hoes, and bitches, but NOT ladies. So out of routine, men tend to use the SAME approach to get with that particular female, because he’s only used to meeting females who have no polish. It makes sense. You must understand that every female feels she is a lady, so don’t be upset when you get approached like a slut from some stank breath, cheap cologne, bling-blong rocking ass clown who come at you with the “ay shawty…” approach. Just shake your head and keep it moving, because believe it or not ladies, THAT approach really works with SOME females. Its pretty pathetic.

Women in Music Videos (cont.)

We see that in movies women are degraded because of how they are portrayed. They are portrayed as sexy, available and at the same time devious in these male audience films. In the hero myth there is the archetype of the trickster, "a mischievous figure that is always causing chaos. The woman is used as this character in many films therefore portraying women as misleading and in the way. Movies with male heros tend to make the woman the one who is weak and unhelpful to the hero. In this way there is no room for equality between the female and male characters in these types of films. When women are seen as lower and unhelpful this makes a woman's status seem unimportant in even real life.

Women in Music Videos

Contemporary films, as well as the stereotype about movie heros are misleading to the importance of women. In these films women are not treated as equals because they don't mean anything to the story, they are hardly even seen as real characters when they are treated so badly in these movies, in reality women can't be taken as seriously.Today there is no doubt we live in society were women are constantly looked toward as sex objects instead of being viewed as equals. Through the years, we still see the same theme being applied, woman are seen as less important to men. In contemporary films we see women unimpressive in their roles, therefore enforcing the theme of degrading women. As we can see in movies with male hero's, we see that the women characters are less important and are only used in roles such as manipulators, sex objects, or just helpless victims. We also see that they are not helpful in the heroes quest, instead they are used as obstacles to the heroes triumph. These ubiquitous images encourage people to think that women can be treated like this and reinforce stereotyping women as sex objects and thus devaluing their humanity. Contemporary films, as well as the stereotype about movie heros are misleading to the importance of women. In these films women are not treated as equals because they don't mean anything to the story, they are hardly even seen as real characters. When they are treated so badly in these movies, in reality women can't be taken as seriously.

Women Expose Themselves!

Through out the years women have been exposed in the music videos, behind the scenes and degraded in songs. women get mistreated because they let men do it to them. Just because they want to get in front of the camera and be famous they let men treat them any kind of way. Most of the time , you see women in men videos half naked , dancing, and being groupies all over men. Now this is just not in Hip Hop videos, but this is all genres of music like rock and roll, metal, country and so on.To them women is just propaganda to sell their music and make people want to watch their videos. I do not  understand why any woman would allow any man to disrespect them like that. All men think they are is hoes anyway because of the way they dress and because of what they let the men do to them. The women have no respect for themselves so the men don't have any for them either.(Donisha Banks)

What Can We Do To Future Of New Orleans

I believe that the kids of our future but what do we do when the present isnt looking To good for our future. The kids of New Orleans could or are going down the wrong path in life. I would love to help the kids of my community. The community is and will continue to go down hill if we don't help. What could we do as young teenaged and young adults to get these kids off the streets. I want to show kids that they have people that think about them and Thier life styles. The kids need someone they could look up to soo that they could take the right track in life. The need Something fun, education, and I catching to help get these kids off the streets.
Without help these kids will follow around the wrong people. What must we do to help to community kids from off the streets. I wouldnt want the future to be worst then what it is now. The kids are going threw alot cause since the strom they don't have many things that they could do. How Can We Help The Future?

Education In New Orleans

Watching the kids from Kipp. It had me thinking why are kids from our community being taught by teacher that don't know nothing about these kids. Why aren't the teachers from New Orleans has been fired from the jobs. Where are there not any schools in the near by neighborhood were the kids stay. I find that's it's very messed up that they hired people from other states to get the job done. The state took all the schools from Orleans Parish School Board and made most of them charter.
The kids at Kipp School don't really have that many black teachers. All the teachers at Kipp aren't even from Louisiana. They have been brought in by the state to teach kids they know nothing about. What do these teachers have in common with these teachers. The teachers are coming in thinking that they could displine these kids where they really can't. Some of the kids were kicked out of school because they aren't understand by the teachers that don't know nothing about what these kids go thru everyday.
Am not saying that all white people have money. But how could a well paid white person that come from money tell a kid from out the project follow your dream. The teacher are not able to help kids they know nothing about. In my opioion the kids aren't being taught to how to live life from an teacher that can't stand up and say I went through the same thing you are going through.

Gender Of Video

Watching the video I don’t understand why it is a big deal. If there are girls in a video that want to be half naked, I don’t see that as a problem. Why should you be judge for something you want to do for a living? These girls shouldn’t be studiotyped. In that kind of industry sex sale. I feel if women have a problem with video girl then don’t watch them. I do feel that the industry shouldn’t judge this girl because they are being calling hoes and other name that could be a little disrespectful to them. I hate the fact that the girl is being judge because of what they are doing. If they want to show their bodies or show their bodies for some money let them I feel nothing is wrong with doing something that they like to do.
One the other half I don’t like it cause the videos is going a little overboard. Why is the woman had to do the entire weird thing to make money? I don’t understand why men in the video have these girls are doing that like that. They are walking around playing with stuff in the mouth and half naked could be disrespect for some of those girls and others. The video are made to catch people attention but it started to be a little too much. Is money really worth what people think about you? Every video women are in the all have to do dance have naked are playing with objects around their mouths. These are supposed to be like a sex dream for the men that are watching it. In the videos they girls are kissing and touching on girls and male find that sexy. If a man kissing in a man and touching on them they think that’s gay. What makes it gay?
Another thing that I hated about these that the videos the women that aren’t shaking in these videos they are crying over men. The women in the video are made to look weak. I think they purpose of that was to show that men are needed to women. Why are women in the videos have to cry over men .They video are trying to make women as being weak and I cant stand it.
