Corruption of New Orleans Schools

   The city of New Orleans is known for their wonderful music, food and culture, but what about the other things. New Orleans racial power has changed tremendously. Whites moved out of the city and into suburbs, because of the horrible school systems and the increased crime rate. The city became almost 70% black. The races began to divide. The whites who are the minority began to fight for a city which they feel is rightfully theirs.
   Louisiana is the poorest state in the nation. The public education in Louisiana is the worst in the nation. Louisiana keeps the highest percentage of people in jail then any other. The average Louisiana valedictorian could not pass a national test written at the 10th grade level. Louisiana also has the poorest graduation rate in the industrialized world. The school system is not creating the work space or educating the students for the future. Federal say this is the worst school system in the United States. They say it is corrupted. They are stealing from the kids not an organization.
The school board and the city's schools are both corrupt. The school system in not stealing from the organization but from the students. Independent school board. The board hold power to hire and fire people as they see them. New Orleans school board set up more collision then concision. The teachers asked students how much money would they give them to pass their course to graduate. Failure rate of Leap test was more than 60%. The students just couldn't pass it. Giving Our Students A Better Learning Enviroment

To me from the discussion that was discussed in last class about the schooling systems shows many that all school systems are not ran the same. I would provide more and better tutoring so that the students will have a better opportunity to get all the help that they will possibly need. It also will give the teacher the opportunity to have one on one time with their students to be sure that they are getting the correct and equal amount od assistance.

In our schools today the teachers cheat their students through school. Providing better teachers would be my main concern because without the correct teaching the students will be very mind crashed.

As far as assessing them I would be sure to keep the IOWA, GEE, and LEAP test going because I think its important to make sure our students are learning what they will need to know for our future. I would only test them on paper and never on technology (computers) because I think that computers can be a huge distraction.

To be honest I would not seperate the schools off by race and gender because I dont think that it is being equal or fair. Therefore I would have there be a maximum of 25 students and a minimum of 15 students in each class. We have to know and rememeber that students are our future!!

School system

I believe that the classes should be smaller the student can think or stay focus when you are in the class with about 30 students. I also think that we need better teachers. The school system us hiring too many teachers that don't care about kids and their education( by chelsea levy )

Gender

What is gender ? Gender is the expected behavior associated with each sex . When someone think if gender , they automatically think boy/girl or woman/man or male/female. With that being said there are certain beliefs that come with that . For example people think women belong at home being a house wife while the men go out and work . The man is suppose to be the strong figure , who bring home the bacon and that has been a misconception for centuries. They really have people out in the world who feel like  women are weaker than men and  can't do the same jobs that men could do . Like men only could be construction workers or police officers. Who said women couldn't do those jobs ?
The same thing goes for men .  You might think men cant be a nurse  or secretary. It's like if you see them performing that job, something is wrong .
The bottom line is people discriminate against gender.  A job might not hire you based on what gender you are. I feel like you can't do anything about it because its what is in people mind and that's how they will always see you and Jude you on that .

Designing a New School System

If I had total control of designing a new school system, I would design it where every child get the same equal amount of attenttion. My school system will focus on building up your thinking skills because everyone think and learn differently. My school system will help build the students character and help them create different learning skills. Also my school system will have smaller classrooms because I believe many students learn better with less students in the class. Thats because you can get more one on one attention from the teachers. I would measure my students assessment in many unique ways. I would give them basic paper and pen test, verbal test, and skill test. Testing them in different ways would help me better understand how well that child test in those particular skills levels. (by: Bria Craige)

New School System

If I could design a new school system I would make it easier for students to learn. I would be mindful that every student doesnt  learn the same way. they are diff rent types of learners out there and just because they  don't learn the same way everyone else do , do not mean anything is wrong with them. they just have to find the right learning way that fits them best. I would also provide better tutoring programs  and buses for them to get home because I fell like we don't  good enough programs. As far as testing students I would give them standardize test to see if they have learned stuff but it wouldn't be such a big deal or play a major part of you going on into the next grade Some people not good test takers so when they do bad on the test it make it seem like they don't know anything, which is not true but they stress the fact that the test is so important that in the back of their mind they cant fail.

I think that  having smaller classes would make a difference in the way students learn, because if the class is smaller they would be able to focus better on there work the teacher would be able to have more on one time to help that student. I know from personally experience that being in a bigger class distracts you, no matter how good of a student you are. By: Donisha Banks
